Top 3 design trends I'm seeing for this wedding season

Wedding season is just around the corner with the most popular dates being from September to November due to the beautiful weather we have in Australia at that time.

I've got so many amazing cakes booked in that I can't wait to create but there's definitely some stand out design trends I'm seeing based on the bookings that have come through from my couples.

​Bold Colours
​

Bold colours and minimalist silhouettes - think sleek white tiers with bright florals or statement making monochromatic cakes in fun colours.

​Fruit Over Flowers
​

I'm seeing a definite shift towards fruit over flowers with fresh berries, figs, citrus and edible produce used as decorative elements.

​Draping & Texture
​

Soft folds of fondant that mimic fabric, silk-like ruffles, or sculptural pleats cascading down tiers - often inspired by bridal gowns.

I personally love all of these trends (bright florals are my favourite) but at the end of the day you want your cake to be about you as a couple.  Don't be afraid to buck the trends and have something that you truly love for your wedding cake.  The wedding cake cutting ceremony is a beautiful tradition and cutting the cake represents one of the first things you do together as a couple so make it special!
